COVID-19 Daily Update from the Village of Antioch – March 30, 2020
On March 29, the president extended the nation’s Slow the Spread campaign until April 30. The American people play a key role in the campaign to help slow the virus’ spread and keep our most high-risk populations safe.
We would like to remind residents to comply with social distancing if going outside, and stress that all park play structures, skate park, restrooms and shelters must remain closed. Signs were placed in all Village owned parks, and police will increase their patrol of these areas to ensure the safety of our residents.
At this time, any essential Village Staff that is reporting to work is asked to take their temperature at home before coming in to work. We would encourage residents to do the same if they plan on leaving their homes for any essential services. Anyone with a temperature over 100 is advised to not call 911, but instead call their primary care physician for further guidance.
Upon the recommendation of local public safety agencies, the Annual Easter Parade and Egg Hunt scheduled for April 11, 2020, and Flashlight Egg Hunt scheduled for April 9, 2020 will be cancelled. We would like to assure everyone that this decision was made in the best interest of the public, and to keep our residents safe.
Lake County has reported up to 343 exposures, with 5,056 in the State of Illinois and over 30,446 tested. The Lake County Health Department launched an interactive map of COVID-19 cases in Lake County, broken down by municipality. It can be viewed at: https://www.lakecountyil.gov/4423/Lake-County-COVID-19-Dashboard.
