Residents may notice some activity at the Northeast corner of Main and Orchard Street in the coming weeks. The Public Works Department will be removing existing sections of the culvert near Route 83, and replacing it with two new pieces of culvert 20-feet in length each. These efforts will allow the fence to be set back further from the roadway and eliminate an excavated area directly near Route 83. Once the new culvert has been installed, it will be backfilled to the existing parking lot grade.
After reviewing proposals, Village staff also expects to make a recommendation to the Village Board at the meeting on July 28 for approval of an agreement for environmental services on the site. Although remediation needs are still unknown, having a consultant in place will allow for prompt and immediate mitigation.
