Happy Friday and good afternoon, Antioch!
Tomorrow is the Summer 2023 Antioch Wine Walk! We’re excited to welcome over 500 people downtown. They’ll be visiting local shops and restaurants while enjoying sips of wine. Every Wine Walk that we host, the village sees more and more visitors from other communities coming to Antioch to experience our downtown! Great job to our Parks Department for working to grow this event!
I can’t wait for next Thursday! Thursday night concerts at the William E. Brook Entertainment Complex (Antioch bandshell) start next Thursday, June 8th. For the second year in a row, we’re kicking off the concert season with a really big show! It’s incredible how much buzz has been happening all over Chicagoland about Rodney Atkins visiting Antioch. I hope you can join us. If you do come out, expect a large crowd. The interest in this show and Antioch has been amazing! Thank you to all of our sponsors, including our Presenting Sponsor, Raymond Chevrolet, Kia. This show and every Thursday night concert at the bandshell are free to attend and open to all ages! Another sign that summer is here! Next Thursday also marks the kickoff of the Antioch Farmers Market! The Farmers Market will be every Thursday, at the northwest corner of Main and Orchard from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., until Thursday, September 14th. You can follow the Antioch Farmers Market on Facebook, HERE.
Summer hours for the pool start tomorrow. The Antioch Aqua Center will be open Monday through Saturday from 12:00 Noon to 7 p.m. and 12 Noon to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.
At our last Antioch Village Board meeting this past Wednesday, the village board awarded a construction contract to Boller Construction for the construction of the new park at the village-owned property at (the northeast corner of) Main and Orchard. We’ll have more on this in the coming weeks, including information about a groundbreaking ceremony. This is a historic development for downtown that has been years in the making. I am grateful for everyone on the village board and the village staff who have worked tirelessly to bring us to this point in the project. Throughout the project, we’ll be posting updates and pictures of the progress. We expect the park to open sometime in 2024.
Finally, the historic Antioch Theatre will be presenting its 2023 Family Film Festival! This event will feature a different movie at 10:00 a.m. every Wednesday this summer! (Starting June 7th and running for 8-weeks). Admission is FREE (sponsored by the Antioch Theatre), and tickets will be made available each Saturday preceding the movie. All movies will be shown on the big screen in the Raymond Auto Group Theatre. Please note, if a particular 10:00 a.m. show nears capacity, they may add an additional show in the early afternoon on the same day. The first movie is “Sonic the Hedgehog 2”. Tickets will be available IN PERSON ONLY at the Antioch Theatre tomorrow (Saturday, June 3, 2023) starting at 12:00 noon.
