Happy Friday, Antioch!
I love this time of year! The weather has been perfect for our busy schedule of summertime events! Attendance at this month’s Summer Wine Walk and It’s Thursday concerts have been amazing!
The large turnouts at the Thursday night concerts at the bandshell have really been incredible to see. Thank you to local bands The Complex and GOOROOs for some amazing concerts over the last two weeks! I love seeing the large crowds show up to enjoy the evening music! Next week’s concert is expected to be another fun show, with crowd favorite Libido Funk Circus! Remember, coolers are welcome, but, if you don’t want to bring your own, you can buy drinks from the Antioch Moose Lodge. We appreciate their help at our shows. Also, don’t forget to support the concert sponsors that make it possible for the village to put on these great shows, including our presenting sponsor, Raymond Chevrolet Kia.
The Fourth of July festivities are only about a week and a half away! Next week, I’ll provide a full rundown and more details of everything that’s going on. The day starts off with the 27th annual Antioch Run for Freedom 5K. Learn more about the run and register at https://bit.ly/3q3rNFv. The Fourth of July parade is at 10:30 a.m., the Party at The Park starts at 3 p.m. with music from Winnie Cooper and Mellencougar, and the night ends with fireworks starting at 9:15 p.m.
Congressman Brad Schneider will be in town tomorrow for his “Congressman on your Corner” event. This is a great opportunity for residents to hear firsthand his update on his activities in Washington. Don’t worry if you see a few wizards walking around downtown tomorrow. It’s the Antioch Chamber of Commerce’s popular Wizard Weekend Day. This is one of the chamber’s most popular events. Thank you to Chamber Director Barbara Porch and her team of volunteers and supporters who make this event happen for our community. Our next Village Board meeting is this coming Wednesday. Village Board meetings are held on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The agenda for the Committee of the Whole and the Village Board meetings will be posted on the village’s website by Monday afternoon.
Congratulations to the Antioch Varsity Softball team on their 2nd place State finish earlier this month at the IHSA Championships in Peoria! I’m excited to recognize your awesome season at an upcoming village meeting later this summer!
