Good afternoon, Antioch!
It’s one of the biggest events of the summer – the Antioch Chamber of Commerce’s Taste of Summer! Have you had a chance to make it out to the Taste, yet? Each night, the Chamber has several musical acts at the bandshell, plus, there is a variety of food and drinks and carnival rides for the whole family! The Taste runs through Sunday. More information is available on the Antioch Chamber’s website: https://www.antiochchamber.org/pages/taste-of-summer
The village’s regular “It’s Thursday” concerts at the William E. Brook Entertainment Center (Antioch bandshell) resume with country music from the BUCKLE band next week! This has been our best summer yet for music at the bandshell. If you haven’t had a chance to come out yet for a show, I’d love for you to join us next Thursday!
Thank you to everyone who helped make last weekend’s 93XRT Decades Weekend concert series at the bandshell such a fun time! Even with last Friday’s rain, we had three nights of great concerts. I had a chance to meet a lot of people who came to Antioch for the concerts from as far away as Oak Lawn! Not only are these summer concerts great for the enjoyment of the residents of our town, but each concert also brings new people to town that also visit our stores and restaurants!
Raymond Chevrolet Kia’s USO BBQ For the Troops is tomorrow! One of the main sponsors of this week’s Taste of Antioch and our presenting sponsor for summer music at the bandshell, the Raymond Auto Group, is hosting a fundraiser/party tomorrow to help raise funds for the USO. This is a fun event that Raymond does every year, for a great cause! The USO BBQ for the Troops starts at 11 a.m. tomorrow and runs through 5 p.m. Thank you, Mark Scarpelli and the Raymond Auto Group for all the good that you do! For more info or donate online: https://fb.me/e/1ltZlc5IY
Also tomorrow, Antioch’s Teamster Horsemen 25 North organization is hosting its Heroes Ride to support Veterans. Breakfast starts at 9 a.m. with kickstands up at 10:30 a.m. For more information about the ride or the group, visit: https://www.facebook.com/groups/690035432718515/
The Farmers Market continues next Thursday! The Antioch Farmers Market is every Thursday this summer at the corner of Main and Orchard from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Make sure to like the Farmers Market Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100090428365036
Next Wednesday is the Parks Department Decades Party at the Pool celebration! The celebration is $5 for Aqua Center pass holders and only $8 for non-members. Either way, if you’re interested in going, you’ll need to register ahead of time. Registration is available at both the Parks Department offices at 806 Holbek, and the Antioch Aqua Center at 739 Main Street, or online at: https://secure.rec1.com/IL/village-of-antioch/catalog/index/6e27126df90f5dbf30b99f6c09f1fbd3?filter=c2VhcmNoPTcwJ3M=
Finally, it’s finally happening!! I hope you can join us on Friday, July 28th for the groundbreaking ceremony for the park development at the village-owned property at Main and Orchard. (Formerly known as the Pittman Property). This redevelopment project has been years in the making! I am so happy to see how things continue to move along. When completed, this redevelopment project will be a beautiful and fun destination for residents and visitors to our community. The groundbreaking starts at 11 a.m. For more information, visit: https://fb.me/e/15GG7EgXx
I look forward to seeing you around town this weekend!
