Good afternoon and Happy Friday, Antioch!
I was just talking this morning with one of my neighbors about how fun the It’s Thursday concert series was this year. For roughly the last two decades, the Village of Antioch has provided weekly summertime entertainment at the William E. Brook Entertainment Center (Antioch bandshell), and I swear it becomes more fun every year! This year, we brought in some community sponsors to help offset the costs of bringing in bigger named acts. I wanted to take a moment to thank all of our sponsors who helped make this summer of music at the bandshell possible. Thank you – Presenting sponsor: Raymond Chevrolet Kia, Gold sponsor: State Bank of The Lakes, Silver sponsors: Lakeshore Beverage, Antioch Fine Wine & Liquors, Fischer Paper Products, The Lakota Group, Merit Law Group, Inc., Your Boat Club, & Ottosen DiNolfo Hasenbalg & Castaldo, Ltd.
Tomorrow (8/19) is Penny’s Purpose second annual Bat for a Cause Co-Ed Softball Tournament at The Sandlots of Salem. This looks like it will be a fun event and a great way to raise funds for a great organization. The Penny’s Purpose was established in 2019, by April Soulak-Andrews to honor the memory of her mother Penny. As most of you know, the Antioch Parks Department has been running the Camp Crayon preschool program for years. Several generations of Antioch and Antioch area residents started their love of learning by attending Camp Crayon. Our Parks Department tells me that there are few openings for enrollment for this fall, for the 2.6-year-old and 3-year-old classes. Registration is going on now. For more information contact Dawn Johnson at the Parks Department at djohnson@antioch.il.gov or 847-395-2160.
Camp Crayon is hiring! The Parks Department tells me that they are currently looking to hire a teacher’s aide for the Camp Crayon 2-year-old program. For more information or to express interest in the position, contact Dawn Johnson at the Parks Department at djohnson@antioch.il.gov or 847-395-2160.
Finally, golfers – today is the last day to take advantage of early bird pricing for next week’s Northern Illinois Mayors’ Cup golf outing. The Antioch Chamber of Commerce will be hosting this event next Friday, August 25th, at the Fox Lake Country Club. This event is open to the public (you do not need to be a chamber member to play!). For more information on the outing and for details on how to register, visit: https://cm.antiochchamber.org/events/details/golf-outing-mayors-cup-open-to-public-chamber-and-municipalities-7745?fbclid=IwAR10h5QK8iKt6SRfo9kgWNcvu-Sxtqbjjy6OfxDzykxuMJxdZAn0SJm6qkI
