Camp Crayon Preschool Teacher Assistant

Overview:
The Village of Antioch is seeking qualified applicants for the seasonal position of Preschool Teacher Assistant for their Camp Crayon Program running September through May each year. Under the direct supervision of the Lead Teacher, and working alongside the Lead Teacher, the Teacher Assistant will maintain a safe, positive experience for the children of Camp Crayon Preschool. The Preschool Teacher Assistant will communicate effectively with both parents and children in a friendly manner, maintain a high level of confidentiality in an ethical and professional manner, setup and cleanup the classroom each day, assist with maintaining supplies and equipment in a safe and workable condition, observe the conduct of all children enrolled in the program, enforce the classroom rules, attend required staff meetings, conferences and workshops, and perform other duties and functions as assigned.
Qualified applicants will have knowledge of early childhood curriculum and instruction methods, behavior management techniques and best practices in effective parent communication and conflict resolution. The Teacher Assistant will be skilled in exercising good judgment, interpersonal, verbal and written communication and able to follow written, verbal or diagrammatic instructions.
Qualifications:
Minimum High School Degree or GED equivalent, required. Minimum three (3) years of related work experience in Child Development or Early Childhood education, preferred. CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within the first 3 months, required.
Salary & Benefits:
The hourly rate is $14.50, and may require additional time beyond the specific class time.
