Happy Friday, Antioch!
First of all, I feel like I should comment about last night’s Bears game. Finally – a win. I hope we start seeing more of these 😊 We’re heading into the weekend on the right note!
Speaking of this weekend, it’s a great time to do some shopping! You’ll notice things will be a bit more crowded this weekend than usual. I’m excited to welcome back shoppers taking part in the twice-a-year Vintage Shop Hop! Today and tomorrow, eight local shops are joining over 400 stores across northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin participating in the regional Vintage Shop Hop. This event brings along a great crowd of out-of-town visitors! Make sure to stop out and enjoy the fun while looking for bargains! Make sure to visit, Family Heirloom Antiques, Great Lakes Antiques Boutique, Inspired Home, The Island Antiques, Ms. Peddler’s Boutique Rustic and Reclaimed Market, Vintage Mercantile. and Wilmot Heritage Antiques. For more information, visit: https://vintageshophop.blogspot.com/
The Antioch Public Library is hosting its Garden Party & Time Capsule Celebration tomorrow. This looks like a fun event! The APLD says registration for the event is appreciated. To register and for more information, visit: https://apld.libcal.com/event/10853432
Tomorrow night, I invite you to join me at the Antioch Rotary Club’s annual Pork Chop Dinner and Auction! The event will be held tomorrow night (October 7th) at the Antioch VFW. There will be a lot of great prizes up for auction! This year, the Village contributed several things, including pool passes, wine walk tickets, and even a Rodney Atkins autographed concert poster! The Antioch Rotary Club does remarkable work for our community, I hope you can join me in supporting their event. Tickets can be purchased online or from Rotary Club members – see www.antiochrotary.org for additional information.
Do you love local history as much as I do? We are lucky to have one of the best run historical societies in the State of Illinois, right here in Antioch! The Lakes Region Historical Society is a great organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation of local history. The group is hosting an event next Thursday, October 12th, featuring photographer, historian, and creator of the Lake County Farmland Project, John Rouse. He will be speaking on the farming history of the county through his photographic record of barns. This program will be held on October 12, 2023, at the Antioch Senior Center, 817 Holbeck Drive at 7:00 p.m. You do not have to be a member of the historical society to attend. Admission is FREE.
