UPDATE on the Village of Antioch’s 2023 leaf vacuuming program
The village’s waste hauler Groot will soon be wrapping up its 2023 leaf vacuuming program. Most of the areas that Groot has been servicing this week have had an extremely heavy amount of leaves, which has caused some delays in operations. Because of the delay, the leaf vacuuming program has been extended to next week.
Residents are asked to work this week and through the weekend to have all leaves raked out by the end of this weekend. Residents are also asked to keep the roadway in front of the leaves free of parked cars or other obstructions which inhibit the Groot driver from being able to service the leaves. If the driver is not able to service the leaves because of an obstruction, it may be possible that the driver will not be able to return to collect the leaves before this year’s program ends.
Next week (week of November 27, 2023) is expected to be the last week of leaf vacuuming for the Village of Antioch.
If you are concerned about leaves blowing back into your yard, or if you worry that you might miss or have missed leaf pick-up, you may still use labeled yard waste cans or bags for your leaves. Groot will collect them during the regularly scheduled garbage day (Thursday) for the village.

Village of Antioch Fall leaf vacuuming starts soon and runs throughout November.
The village’s leaf vacuuming program is provided as a service through our waste hauler, Groot. The program will start Monday, October 30, 2023, and runs through November 24, 2023. Exact pick-up dates will vary depending on the weather.
Here is how the leaf vacuuming program works:
Starting next week (October 30, 2023), Groot will provide leaf vacuuming services at the curb. Residents are to rake leaves within 5 feet of the edge of the road. Not in ditches. This program is WEATHER PERMITTING. If the weather cooperates, (no rain or snow), Groot trucks will be in different areas of the village on different days of the week to vacuum up the leaves. If the leaves are too wet, the vacuum truck will not be able to pick them up, and the program will be postponed or delayed.
