Happy Friday, Antioch!
Tomorrow is Veterans Day. I hope you can join me tomorrow in sharing gratitude and appreciation for the brave veterans who have served our great nation. I’ll be joining the Antioch American Legion Post 748 and Antioch VFW Post 4551 and their Auxiliaries for their Veterans Day Ceremony at the “Tank on Toft” at 11 a.m. tomorrow. Earlier today, I had the pleasure of joining Congressman Brad Schneider at the District 117 Veterans Day event at Lakes High School. (Coach Ron Gillespie’s speech was great!) I also joined Congressman Schneider at his Veterans Day Breakfast this morning at the College of Lake County. The breakfast also featured Col. Paul Hettich. Great job to everyone who organized these moving tributes to those who have served in our nation’s Armed Forces.
Also, please note that in observance of the Veterans Day holiday, the Antioch Village Hall is closed today. Village Hall will reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday.
Tomorrow night is the Antioch Sequoit Wrestling fundraising event at the Antioch VFW. This is the only fundraising event done for the wrestling team. All the money raised tomorrow night will go to help offset camp costs for the Sequoit wrestlers. The evening will feature music, drinks, dinner, a live and silent auction, and more! Tickets are $40 each and include dinner, or you can purchase advance tickets for just the auction for $20. Tickets and more information are available, here: https://www.vancoevents.com/us/events/35510/sessions/95149/sections/60238/tickets
The Antioch Lions Club is hosting its annual William E Brook Memorial Wild Game Dinner and Live Auction this coming Wednesday. The dinner features a variety of fish, fowl, and game, along with raffles and door prizes. It will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Maravela’s Banquets. Cocktails and wild snacks start at 5:30 p.m., with dinner served at 7:00 p.m. For more information, visit: https://antiochlionsclub.wildapricot.org/event-5442009
The Antioch Area Healthcare Accessibility Alliance-AAHAA is selling tickets for its fall fundraising event. The Denny Diamond Fundraising Event will be held a week from this Sunday, November 19th at Dockers North. This will be a fun evening to benefit a very worthwhile local cause. AAHAA works to improve the accessibility of healthcare for families of Antioch and Grant Townships. Tickets are $50 each, which includes a buffet dinner. For more information, or to buy tickets, visit: https://www.aahaa4health.org
Finally, the contractor for the open space redevelopment project at Main and Orchard gave us a short time-lapse video of the last 30 days or so, of the work being done at the construction site. I’ve included it below. It’s exciting to see the progress that is being made on the site!
Have a great weekend, and please remember to take time to honor the brave men and women who have served our great nation! Happy Veterans Day!
