Good afternoon, Antioch! Happy Friday!
It doesn’t seem like time to start talking about Easter, but the village’s Easter festivities are happening at the end of next month. Can you believe Easter is coming up that quickly? Our Easter events are some of the most popular events of the year! Make sure these are on your calendar: The Antioch Parks Department’s Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt (for 10-15-year-olds) will take place on Thursday, March 28th at 8:00 p.m. The Antioch Easter Parade will be on Saturday, March 30th at 10:30 a.m. with an Easter Egg hunt for the kids (ages 0-9) at 11:00 a.m. If your children would like to participate in either egg hunt, please contact our Parks Department to get a wristband for the event.
Also in March, the Village of Antioch is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day weekend with a fun run and party at the Tim Osmond Sports Complex. The inaugural Shamrock Shuffle 5k family fun run/walk will take place on Saturday, March 16th, and will be an exciting day for the whole family! The run/walk will be followed by music and family-friendly events, with food and beer! For more information, visit https://fb.me/e/3tpXPZqLD
Have you had a chance to participate in the month-long Lake County February Flavor Festival, hosted by the Lake County convention and visitor’s bureau, Visit Lake County? Through February 29th, Visit Lake County has combined the renowned Lake County Restaurant Weeks and Libation Trail initiatives into one delicious month-long event! When you dine out, make sure to share the experience with your friends on social media! The Village of Antioch has six participating restaurants in this year’s event; Casa Ruiz, Johnny’s Snack Shop, Lovin Oven Cakery, Oliverii North, Station 51 Truck Company Bar & Grill, The Rivalry Alehouse, and Vigneto del Bino Winery. Earlier this week, the village celebrated National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day. School Resource Officers are full-time law enforcement officers with sworn law enforcement authority, trained in school-based policing and crisis response, and are assigned work with schools using community-oriented policing concepts. I wanted to wish Antioch Police SRO Detective Macko a very Happy SRO Day. We appreciate all that you do for our community!
