Happy Friday, Antioch!
The weather this weekend looks amazing! I hope you’re able to get out and enjoy the sunshine while taking in the beauty of our community.
This past week, I had the pleasure of being a guest of the Antioch Chamber of Commerce for its annual “State of Antioch Address”. Antioch Township Supervisor Tom Shaughnessy and I were able to give an update on all of the exciting things going on in the village and township. It was great to hear from Tom about the new Thelen Park construction and the township’s recent purchase of the former Faith Lutheran School on Main Street. At the luncheon, I was able to give an update on the construction progress of the new village park at Main and Orchard. If the weather cooperates, I expect to post new pictures next week. We’re still on track to have things wrapped up this summer! More on the park next week… Thank you, Chamber Director, Barbara Porch for putting together a great luncheon, and thank you to everyone who came out to The Rivalry – it was a full house!
It’s Opening Night tonight at the PM&L Theatre. “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” opens tonight and will run weekends through the end of the month. The PM&L website invites you to “celebrate the extraordinary in the every day and the power of understanding the world through different eyes”. Now that the weather is getting nicer, it may be time to start looking for a new bicycle for the summer. The Village of Antioch Parks Department is hosting its annual Bike Resale event on Saturday, April 27th. If you want to sell a bike or bike equipment, the Parks Department is accepting items during the week before the bike sale. It’s a great opportunity to get a good deal! For more information, including how to sell your bike or bike equipment, visit: https://www.facebook.com/events/7089025197886521/?active_tab=discussion
Thursday, April 25th is Spring Clean-up Day for the Village. If you have items that are oversized, or collecting dust, and you are looking to dispose of them, this is your chance! Finally, I wanted to say congratulations to Antioch’s Interim Village Administrator/Police Chief Geoff Guttschow on his recent appointment to the executive board of the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force. Way to go, Chief!
Enjoy the weekend! I hope you can join me shopping and dining local – support 60002!
