Happy Friday, Antioch!
We’re in the full swing of summer events in our village! Next week, the Village of Antioch will host Fourth of July festivities. Here’s a rundown of everything that is happening on Thursday. Please note Village Hall will be closed on Thursday for the holiday, reopening at 8 a.m. on Friday.
Thursday, July 4th festivities:
8 a.m. – Antioch Run for Freedom 5k, hosted by the State Bank of The Lakes. Registration is still open for the race. Find out more and register here: https://www.sbotl.com/runforfreedom.html
10:30 a.m. – Fourth of July Parade. This year’s theme is “Faithful and True to the Red, White, and Blue.” We’ve updated this year’s “NO Siren Zone” for those who may be sensitive to loud noises. The parade will run north on Main Street from Route 173, with a “No Siren Zone” running from Park Avenue to Orchard. The parade will then end at Poplar Avenue.
12 Noon to 5 p.m. – $1 swimming at the Antioch Aqua Center.
3 p.m. – The Fourth of July Party at the Park hosted by the Lions Club and sponsored by the Village of Antioch and Antioch Township, starts at Williams Park. We’ll have DJ Schlappi playing music from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., then the Magneen Band will play from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. In addition to the music, food trucks will sell food and dessert at Williams Park during the music and fireworks.
9:15 p.m. – The fireworks show begins!
Thank you to all the staff and volunteers who make the Fourth such a great family-friendly holiday tradition in Antioch!!
With the Fourth landing on a Thursday this year, we won’t have an It’s Thursday bandshell concert or the Farmers Market next week. Our next Thursday Night Concert at the Bandshell will be Thursday, July 11th at 7 p.m. with 70s/80s cover band, Blackberry Jam. Our next Farmers Market will also be on July 11th at Main and Orchard from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Next Monday, July 1st, former Antioch Village Trustee Mary Dominiak is hosting a meeting for Antioch residents who might be interested in helping to create a new downtown organization aimed helping with the economic growth of the downtown business community and the historic preservation of the downtown buildings. The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at the Antioch Public Library. The goal of the potential new organization would be to create a downtown business or Main Street organization. This new group would work collaboratively with the Village of Antioch and the Antioch Chamber of Commerce, as a separate organization, working at promoting and enhancing downtown.
I hope you have a great weekend – God Bless the U.S.A.!!!!
