Happy Independence Day, Antioch!
With the holiday this week, I wanted to get this week’s message out a little bit early.
I hope you’re ready for a fun day in Antioch tomorrow!
Last week, I posted the rundown of everything going on in the village for the Fourth of July holiday. If you missed it, check it out here: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/FFgLfPd76tjtjoQK/
The Sequoit Creek Park grand opening is almost here! The grand opening celebration for Sequoit Creek Park will be on Saturday, August 17th at 11:00 a.m. If you’ve driven by the park lately, you’ll see we’re working on the finishing touches! This park looks incredible! Unfortunately, the park will not be open in time for tomorrow’s fireworks. We’ll have signs posted, but I wanted to remind everyone that a large crowd could kill the newly planted grass and vegetation. I appreciate your patience.
The Sequoit Creek Park construction contractor, Boller Construction, recently shared with me a great drone video of the project site. I am excited to share this with you! (See the video below)
Tickets are on sale now for this year’s Antioch Lions Club Chicken BBQ, Pig Roast & Auction. This is a really fun event for the community that the Lions Club hosts every year. This year, it will be on Sunday, July 28th at Williams Park. Pre-sale tickets are available at the Antioch Piggly Wiggly, or by contacting an Antioch Lions Club member. Pre-sale tickets are $15. Day of the event tickets are $20. More information: https://www.facebook.com/share/tJM8cSU9RfEe8jor/
Finally, it’s time to keep an eye out for Waldo in Antioch! This has become a fun annual tradition, started locally by Angela at Little Bean Books! This year, there are a ton of local participating businesses – I counted 25 Antioch businesses on the event’s Facebook page! The way the contest works is that you search for Waldo in participating local shops, restaurants, and the Antioch Public Library! The more places you find Waldo, the more things you can win. It looks like something fun for the whole family to work on this summer! And, it’s just one more reason to visit our outstanding locally owned restaurants and shops! I hope you have a great holiday weekend and Happy Birthday, America!
