Good afternoon, Antioch!
I love weekends in the summer. There isn’t a better place to be than here in Antioch! The weather this weekend looks like it will be the perfect opportunity to enjoy outdoor dining, a walk through a park, or a visit to the Antioch Aqua Center. As a reminder, the pool is open (during the summer) Monday – Saturday from 12 noon – 7 p.m. and Sunday from 12 noon – 6:30 p.m. For more information about rates or any questions about the pool, you can email the Parks Department at parks@antioch.il.gov, or call 847-395-POOL (7665)
We are about a month away from the grand opening of Sequoit Creek Park! At the end of last July, we broke ground on this construction project that has transformed a blighted nearly 4-acre eyesore in our downtown business district into one of the premier parks/public spaces in Lake County! The centerpiece of the park is Sequoit Creek, which has been opened up for the first time in about 50 years. Additionally, the park will have an accessible playground, splash pad, fire pits, cafe building, and a beautiful performance pavilion. Please bring your friends, neighbors, and family members and join us for the grand opening on Saturday, August 17th at 11 a.m. Everyone is welcome! See the flyer below for more information.
Raymond Chevrolet Kia’s USO BBQ For the Troops is tomorrow! One of the main sponsors of this week’s Taste of Antioch and our Title Sponsor for summer music at the bandshell, Raymond Chevrolet Kia, is hosting a fundraiser/party tomorrow to help raise funds for the USO. Mark Scarpelli and the Raymond Auto Group host this event every year to raise money for the USO. The USO BBQ for the Troops starts at 11 a.m. tomorrow and runs through 5 p.m. For more info or donate online: https://fb.me/e/3HeWqs8Hh
Also this weekend, the village is hosting our next Food Truck FEASTival! Food trucks will be out along Toft Avenue this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. We’ve got some great food trucks lined up to participate. I hope you can join me for some great food and live music. It’s also a great time to stop into your favorite shops and restaurants in downtown Antioch.
Next week is the start of the Antioch Chamber of Commerce’s Taste of Summer! The Taste runs from Thursday through Sunday. Antioch Chamber Director Barbara Porch has been working hard to get things ready this year. This year’s taste will be a little different than past years, it will still feature four nights of music and food, however, there will be no carnival this year. More information is available on the Antioch Chamber’s website: https://cm.antiochchamber.org/events/details/taste-of-summer-exhibitors-sidewalk-sales-july-18-21-2024-8319
I look forward to seeing you around town this weekend!
