Happy Friday, Antioch!
I am happy to announce that YOU are invited to join your friends and neighbors for the grand opening celebration of Sequoit Creek Park on Saturday, August 17th at 11 a.m. This past week, construction crews have been putting the finishing touches on the playground and landscaping. I swear, this park looks more beautiful every time I look at it. I hope you’re able to join us two weeks from tomorrow. For more information on the grand opening celebration, make sure to follow the Facebook event page, here: https://fb.me/e/7RMkzZFQc
Later this month, right before the grand opening of the park, The Penny’s Purpose NFP will host its third annual Bat for a Cause Co-Ed Softball Tournament at The Sandlots of Salem. This is a fun event for an outstanding local charity. I’m excited to join in the fun, throwing out the first pitch! The Penny’s Purpose was established in 2019, by April Soulak-Andrews to honor the memory of her mother Penny. April gives a lot to our community, and I’m excited to help her and her wonderful organization. For information about Penny’s Purpose and this event, check out their Facebook event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/1781331775686889/
This Saturday, the Antioch Walmart will be hosting its annual Walmart Wellness Day, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event is free for our community and provides free health screenings, free and low-cost immunizations, and the opportunity to talk with a local Walmart pharmacist. For more information, visit: www.walmart.com/wellnesshub.
We only have six weeks left of the summertime Antioch Farmers Market! Make sure you stop by and visit our vendors – they’re at the corner of Main and Orchard each Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., until Thursday, September 12th. Also, while you’re downtown, make time for the It’s Thursday summer concert series, which runs until Thursday, August 29th. We added a couple of extra weeks to this summer’s concert series, making summer last a little bit longer! Next Thursday, we welcome Chicago tribute band, the Chicago Experience. The show starts at 7 p.m. Show up early and prepare for a lot of fun!
Remember to take time this weekend to show your support to our local business community!
