Happy Friday, Antioch!
It truly is a wonderful time to be in Antioch! The changing of the seasons is an idyllic backdrop to Sequoit Creek Park, where you can catch free events like Magic Dave and his magician show this Sunday (3-4 p.m.). Our Sunday afternoon events at the park is just one way can get outside, have fun, and enjoy some free entertainment. Make sure you are following us on Facebook to stay up to date on other upcoming events and activities.
Antioch’s Walmart re-opened to much fanfare earlier today after a months-long renovation project. Although it remained open during the refresh, the much-anticipated grand re-opening revealed a new-and-improved shopping experience I know our residents will love and appreciate. The Antioch Traveling Closet was also presented with a check for $2,000 to support their mission in the coming year—thank you, Wal-Walmart, for everything you do to support our community!
Speaking of shopping, I’m excited to welcome the return of the Vintage Shop Hop! Consisting of more than 400 participating stores from across northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin, Antioch has eight stops on the list. You can view the complete list of participating stores at https://vintageshophop.blogspot.com/. Come out and shop local!
In other news, sidewalk repairs along Main Street begin on Monday morning starting at 7 a.m. The work should only take one day and will be ready for foot traffic on Tuesday. Business hours will not be affected; however, there may be some parking spaces closed off temporarily.
If you’re looking for something fun to do tomorrow night (Oct. 5), join me at the Rotary Club of Antioch’s annual Pork Chop Dinner and Auction! The event takes place at 7 p.m. at the Antioch VFW, complete with a lot of great prizes up for auction! This year, the Village contributed several raffle items to include pool passes, wine walk tickets, and even a Rodney Atkins autographed concert poster. The Antioch Rotary Club does remarkable work for our community, I hope you can join me in supporting their event. Also, don’t forget to sign up for the Antioch Chamber of Commerce’s Adult Comedy Speakeasy event on Oct. 18 at Rivalry Alehouse. Get your password when you complete your registration (remember your password, it’s in your confirmation email). Must be 21+ to enter. Sign up for a table of eight or as an individual: https://cm.antiochchamber.org/events/details/speakeasy-with-adult-comedy-10-18-24-8618
Lastly, I’m excited to welcome two new village employees to the team. Communications & Event Specialist Kelley Crimmins and Business Liaison Specialist Kim Biederman represent an exciting step forward for the village, as their combined expertise will help continue our economic growth momentum while enhancing communication and deepening engagement with our residents and the business community. I hope you have the pleasure of meeting them soon!
Have a great weekend!
