Good afternoon and Happy Friday, Antioch!
This week, I was proud to host Congressman Brad Schneider to the Village for a tour of Sequoit Creek Park and to meet with some of our trustees and administrators. It was a great opportunity to discuss the village’s priorities and explore ongoing opportunities for collaboration.
In other news, we are just a week away from our annual Treat the Streets and Harvest Fest! I would like to thank our Title Sponsor, Raymond Chevrolet/KIA, as well as our costume contest sponsor Dunkin’ Donuts, for making it possible! The day starts at noon with Treat the Streets. Put on your favorite Halloween costume for this one-of-a-kind trick-or-treat adventure along Main Street until 2 p.m. Don’t forget your bag or bucket! You can pick up a participant map to plot your course through Candytown at Village Hall or via our Facebook page.
Afterward, head over to the bandshell for our annual Harvest Fest for games, hayrides, vendors, costume contest, food trucks, and more from 1-5 pm. You can see all the details on the Village of Antioch’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/events/1352710392376277
Our food trucks this year:
– Moose Lodge (burgers, hot dogs, and drinks)
– Lumpia Lady (Filipino food and desserts)
– Fresh Fix (acai bowls, sandwiches)
– The Polish Plate (Polish food and desserts)
– BBQ’d Productions (barbecued meats and sides)
– The Latte Cafe (hot drinks and desserts)
Speaking of fall festivities, the Antioch Chamber of Commerce’s Witches Night Out is also back on Thursday, Oct. 24, promising a wicked good time! Grab your broomstick and join the scavenger hunt shopping experience at participating local shops from 5-7:30 pm! Hunt for treasures, score magical deals and enjoy fun surprises along the way. End the night with an after-party at Rivalry Alehouse. Celebrate your finds with food, drinks, and a dash of spooky fun!
If you enjoy community events like these, I encourage you to consider volunteering. Our upcoming holiday events like the Christmas Parade and Santa at the Sawmill rely on the kindness and generosity of volunteers. These events are cherished by our community, and your support can make them even more magical. If you’re looking for a way to give back and make a difference this holiday season, we invite you to volunteer and be part of something truly special. If you want to be added to our email list to receive notifications for upcoming volunteer opportunities, please email Kelley Crimmins at kcrimmins@antioch.il.gov.
Have a great weekend!
